Peru FUNDRAISING for Special Souls

(WE HAVE RETURNED!!!  HERE IS THE UPDATE AND PHOTOS OF YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS IN ACTION!!! )

To our wonderful donors~

THANK YOU!

We have returned from our journey to Peru.  We bring back many memories – and thanks to YOU – had the opportunity to be “of service” to some very wonderful and deserving souls.

With your beautiful generosity we were able to gift and serve:

Qero Village Blankets: Provide much needed heavy blankets to the Qero Tribe (ancient Wisdom keepers) for the children and elderly of their village.  The Q’eros Nation is made up of five communities in the Peruvian Andes, roughly 75 extremely rugged miles east of the nearest city, Paucartambo. An estimated 2,000 people call these communities home, the highest of which rests at an incredible 14,000 feet.  We had the opportunity to work with them during our visit – and they performed a beautiful traditional “despacho” ceremony – where they created an offering to the spirits on our behalf and sent it to the “Apus” by burning it in the fire.  (Photos below)

Heaters and Supplies to Ccochuasi Animal Sanctuary: A family run sanctuary  that cares for local indigenous animals that have been victims of abuse, neglect or injury.  They rely 100% on donations and are currently caring for over 100 animals.  They are instrumental in the nations only Condor Conservation program.  The heaters and supplies will serve their primates – with a second heater on the way for a puma that is prone to pneumonia.  We had the opportunity to volunteer – cleaning cages, feeding the animals and providing some special care.  (Photos below)

Girls Orphanage clothes, shoes, needed supplies and some girly fun –  With your generosity – we were able to make a beautiful impact for the girls of the orphanage.  As the weather is very cold and dry – we were able to provide each girl with new shoes, two jackets, skin lotion and sunscreen.  We also were able to give them fun gift bags with hair ties, stickers, headbands, pens / pencils – and other things that they can call their own!  We also were able to donate craft and learning supplies that they wanted.  Lastly – we were able to create a fun “party” where we played four games with them (learning / art / physical activity & fun photo booth) to create an opportunity for interaction.  Together we painted a mural they can keep and gave them the chance to interact and practice English – a sweet opportunity the teachers tell us they talk about all year long.  The sweet notes they wrote us and the genuine hugs said it all.  I wonder which group actually got more out of that day!  😊  (photos attached)

THANK YOU from the bottom of our collective hearts – for changing the lives of such sweet souls.

*** PLEASE do not share the photos of the girls. They gave us permission to share with the donors – but need to make sure that their privacy is protected.

We are supporting three wonderful charities in Peru – an orphanage for extremely poor or abused little girls…. a wildlife sanctuary that cares for abused and injured wildlife, and the indigenous Qero tribe (Pachamama Wisdom Keepers).

Imagine – A 6-year old girl dragged from her home by an abusive uncle after her parents tragically died. Or two little 6-year old girls found hiding in a box because they had no where else to go.
Imaginemajestic pumas cruelly drugged and chained in a nightclub in Lima never seeing the sun. Or a beautiful young monkey abused at the hands of a brutal owner. Or a gorgeous hawk who was cruelly shot …. for fun.
Imagine – minimal facilities, no school supplies, no running water – and having to make a living by selling potatos and crafts to feed the entire village.

We want to help. We will be traveling to Peru and volunteering with these important organizations and would like to help them by providing some items that they desperately need.
**********
The Orphanage: The orphanage is Hogar de Ninos San Judas in Cusco – a facility created to help the poorest of the poor – and sadly – victims of abuse.  It is a government funded facility – which means that there are very few resources available to them other then meeting basic needs. It is a place for girls whose families are unable to properly take care of them, many of the girls were rescued from violent homes, where relatives abused them or abandoned them to seek a better future elsewhere. San Judas is all they have to call their own. We want to bring these girls some needed warm clothing, desperately needed shoes and some games and toys that they can play with to bring some light and fun to them.
What they need: Shoes, socks, warm sweaters / jackets, fun “girly” things like bracelet crafts, coloring books, etc..

The Wildlife Sanctuary: The Ccochahuasi Animal Sanctuary is a privately-owned, family-run organization in the Sacred Valley of Peru that rescues wildlife and exotic animals that have been injured or have been used for cruel entertainment purposes, who have suffered mistreatment from former owners / evil poachers or illegal hunters whom commercialize protected species. They never turn away an animal in need.
We have been visiting and volunteering with CAS for 8 years and have seen first hand the tireless dedication of this family who runs this sanctuary. We have seen them grow, have experienced their authentic dedication and we have done several volunteer projects over the years. We want to help them expand their facilities to give their monkeys a better way to live, to do outreach in the community and directly care for the animals that are in their loving care.
What they need: Supplies to better serve their animal residents, big project: more supportive habitat for their monkeys, support for special needs bears

The Q’ero Tribe: A very special tribe – the Qero live by the Inca Prophesy – To Bring Back Balance in Nature and Mother Earth. The tribe we work with is specifically tasked to help the Western world better understand and connect to the earth – Pachamama – and most importantly, to ourselves and the divine.  They work with our group when we are in Peru and convey special (often mystical) blessings for us. The Q’eros see the divine in all nature and speak to each mountain, rock, plant, river animal and human life with attentiveness and care.
They willingly and loving share this with us, provide us beautiful ceremonies and sweet healings. We are fortunate to have one of their highest “holy men” Luis be a part of our sacred ceremonies. They live in very basic accommodations and have no other means of income outside of selling the potatoes they grow – and selling their beautiful handmade crafts.
What they need: Shoes for the village, school supplies for the kids, items to make daily necessities easier.
