Upon arrival back at Iquitos from Dimenciones Espirituales – we will be changing boats to go up the river and touring with an eco-sustainable company called Amazonia Expeditions.  They were selected because of their mission – the preservation of the region.  In order to protect the immense biodiversity contained within this area, their efforts are geared both towards the aid of indigenous peoples and ecological communities.  They also offer expert guides on the area and the indigenous wildlife.

Wildlife Viewing Cruise

We set off from Iquitos for a 3-4 hour long cruise along the banks of the mighty Amazon to the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve.  The Reserve provides you with the opportunity to experience an unmatched variety of wildlife in pristine wilderness.  Along the way we will look for wildlife around the river banks.

Biologists refer to this region as the “green paradise” of the Amazon forest. Within this region there exist exceptional national parks and reserves that contain the best wildlife viewing experiences to be found in the Amazon.

Along the way we will watch for animals in the bush and along the river banks.  Stopping if we encounter any of the wild and rare pink dolphins known as Botos.

Treetop Canopy Zip Line

Located in the pristine forest near our Tahuayo Lodge, the zipline system is located entirely within the rain forest canopy.  It is the only one of its kind in the Amazon.  The system is made up of 5 emergent tree giants which are connected by 3 separate zip lines and 1 suspended foot bridge.  The experience begins with a tree climb.  The more adventurous can choose to go up the tree using ascenders, while those that want to conserve their energy can choose to be hoisted up by pulleys.  Either way it is truly an amazing experience ascending into the tree tops.  Once at the top the adventure begins!  You are strapped into a rappeler’s harness, attached by carabiners to a zipline trolley that runs along a series of stainless steel aircraft cables.  After you are strapped in you are then free to travel through the air from one tree giant to another.  Wooden platforms connect our ziplines together and allow one to stop and study the tree top life while enjoying the spectacular view.

Tahuayo Lodge

The Tahuayo Lodge is  a comfortable lodge, suitable for adventurous travelers wishing to experience the Amazon Rainforest.  Our vision with the Tahuayo Lodge is to provide our guests with most of the comforts of home while still remaining deeply connected to the nature all around us.  The lodge offers all-inclusive Peruvian / International style buffet meals, private bathrooms, and electricity (limited) provided by solar panels.

Guided Nightime Jungle walk.
